Instant bhatura with soda water | Instant bhatura recipe with soda water

Traditional bhaturas are made with maida combining with either yeast of mixing of sugar salt and curd with baking soda and letting the mixture rest for 2 hours for fermentation. But to curb our instant hunger pangs, we can quickly make the bhaturas with soda water. Soda makes the bhaturas fluffy and is a replacement of baking soda or fruit salt. We should make sure that the soda water which is basically carbonated water, it should be used at room temperature. We can further add salt to get better results and more puffy bhauras.

Bhaturas are served with chhole and accompanied with onions and fried masala aloo.

Instant puffy bhatura

Ingredients
  • 1 cup maida/ wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup suji/ semolina
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup soda water (at room temperature)
  • oil for frying the bhaturas

Ingredients
  • 1 cup maida/ wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup suji/ semolina
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup soda water (at room temperature)
  • oil for frying the bhaturas


Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl add maida or wheat flour and suji.

  2. Now add sugar, salt and oil to the mixture and start mixing well.

  3. Next add soda water to the mixture and start kneading the flour.

  4. Cover the dough with moist cloth for 15-20 minutes.

  5. After 20 minutes, knead the flour again by dusting the flour over it.

  6. Make small rolls out of the dough and start rolling the balls using the rolling pins.

  7. Now heat the oil in a kadhai and fry the bhaturas one by one.

  8. Remove the bhaturas on oil absorbent paper.

  9. Serve hot with chhole.

  1. Tried today in lunch – This was amazing. My husband really liked it. I was planning to make bhatura without yeast & with soda water and eno are great alternative.
